Overview

Management and leadership are often talked about as if they are interchangeable – the same thing. Yin and yang refer to the fact that while management and leadership are interconnected, they can, in practice, be opposites. Being able to recognise and respond to these differences and the tensions that can arise is vital for the development of confident, responsive, and effective personal leadership practice.

This workshop draws from the principles of Harvard University’s renown Adaptive Leadership program to explain these differences, why they exist and how they impact on workplace dynamics. The workshop focuses on what you need to navigate the differences courageously, confidently and successfully.

Whether your managing dynamic change, building a high-performance team, or embarking on an exciting new initiative do it with confidence in your leadership capacity, choices and approaches.

This workshop is designed for senior managers, emerging/new leaders, and team leaders.

Content

  • Understand the difference between management and leadership, and why it’s important.

  • Develop your leadership as a practice regardless of position or power.

  • Recognise the unique attributes of team members and the team and how to nurture leadership in others and support open mindset thinking.

  • Explore workplace culture and how it impacts leadership initiatives.

  • Learn how to think like a leader and develop a leader’s perspective and diagnostic lens.

  • Practice designing effective leadership interventions including visioning, generating motivation and maintaining momentum.

  • The workshop is designed to be interactive and experiential, maximising peer to peer learning and creative co-designing.

  • Participants engage with multi modal resources which can include pre-reading, podcasts and webinars, online tests, and tools and more.
