About the role:
As an important part of the IT team, you will assist with the day to day management of infrastructure and form close relationships with customers; working with them on a daily basis to make their IT experience as hassle free as possible. The role requires dealing with customers both face to face onsite and via phone and E-Mail and sometimes this will mean performing tasks after hours. You will be providing the operational support of customer servers and applications including proactive monitoring, incident resolution and performing standard and non-standard changes to ensure smooth and efficient customer operations, maximising customer satisfaction.
Key duties include:
- Create and maintain system and app documentation, including operation procedures and setup
- Operational support of hardware and software
- Monitoring and incident resolution
- Accept jobs escalated from Level 1 & 2
- Manage network monitoring solutions including PRTG, System Centre Operations Manager, LibreNMS & Nagios
- Attend service calls and answer queries from customers and management
- Facilitate the adoption of new technology within our existing customer base
Skills & experience:
The ideal candidate will have significant experience in a customer facing service role and essentially be comfortable with both Windows Server platforms and Linux variants. This role will necessitate a solid understanding of VLAN, Wireless, and Virtualisation technologies as well as IaaS platforms and their operation. Experience with VoIP and UC Systems will smooth your entry to the role as will Networking skills in Cisco, HP and Mikrotik. Linux system administration, network infrastructure management, Windows and Linux scripting and an understanding of programming concepts are all desirable skills.
