Due to significant growth across our business Tonkin is now looking to recruit a Senior Bookkeeper / Payroll Officer to the collaborative Adelaide branch of their National operations.
About the role:
Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Senior Bookkeeper / Payroll Officer will enjoy autonomy and hold responsibility for fortnightly payroll activities for a growing workforce of 160 people across SA, NSW, Vic, QLD and NT. They will drive process improvements and ensure legislative and award compliance across Tonkin’s dispersed workforce. Full ownership of Accounts Payable and end of month reconciliation to Trail Balance are responsibilities of this broad role.
Key Duties include:
Ensure timesheet integrity and post
Undertake and ensure fortnightly payroll is completed accurately, including employee expenses
Complete associated journals
Process all end of month payroll requirements including leave movement journals
Attend to staff queries appropriately
Ensure compliance with applicable legislative requirements, and regulations including but not limited to PAYG, Payroll tax, Workcover, and superannuation
End of month reconciliations including processing of payroll journals and accruals
Accounts Payable processing, reconciliation, and payments
Payroll migration project support
General bookkeeping and project work as directed by the CFO
Skills & experience:
Whilst you are ideally Certificate or Diploma qualified you will necessarily have strong, successful experience in end to end, multistate payroll management. Your technical savvy and reconciliation experience will ensure that you can navigate multiple systems and your passion for award and legislative compliance will ensure the Tokin payroll systems and processes are robust. Strengths in Xero Payroll and MS Excel are essential, and you will need to display impeccable attention to detail.
