About the role:
The Drug & Alcohol Collector is responsible for performing specimen collection and on-site testing services relating to drugs and alcohol. They are required to deliver exceptional customer service to a variety of AusHealth customers. Duties include:
Conduct on-site breath alcohol and oral fluid, urine and hair drug specimen collections and testing
Take responsibility for the set-up of the testing facility and ensure area is left as it was found
Maintain chain of custody of samples and detailed records of all visits and samples
Ensure the timely transport of relevant samples to the laboratory after collection
Liaise with clients’ on-site Responsible Manager, as required
Ensure adequate stock is maintained and stored correctly
Complete required forms in accordance with quality requirements
Provide a timely response to a request for site attendance by customer service, including out of standard business hours
Maintain high levels of confidentiality of all information made available to the position
Maintain a customer focused and professional approach at all times
Maintain high standards of personal presentation and adhere to the Dress Code Policy
Skills & experience:
Possession of a smartphone, current driver’s licence and a reliable vehicle is essential
Covid vaccinated and evidence
Current or willingness to apply for National Police Clearance and Working with Children Check
Proficient in the use of tablets, electronic forms and equipment
Exceptional attention to detail
Commitment to and experience in providing a high standard of customer service
Understanding of concepts of privacy and confidentiality and demonstrated experience in maintaining it in the workplace
Commitment to working within the scope of your role’s responsibility and following established procedures
Openness to continuous development and learning
Proactive communication style with colleagues
Sound conflict resolution skills
Ability to navigate difficult conversations or disputes
Effective time management skills
Knowledge of basic drug and alcohol testing methods and of laboratory procedures highly desirable
Experience in handling biological samples or working in a hospital or laboratory environment highly desirable
