With a history dating back to the late 1800’s, South Australian Produce Market boast an impressive background and currently supply over 70% of fresh produce to our state.  The current location and structure of the Market in Pooraka was established in 1987. It is the premier fresh produce wholesale market for the state where over 250,000 tonnes of fresh produce with a wholesale value of over $590M is traded between the wholesalers, growers and retail operators every year. It’s a busy place, with an estimated 10,000 individuals accessing the Market site each week.

About the role:

Due to maternity leave, we are now seeking an Administration Assistant to undertake a direct 10 month contract. Reporting to the Executive Assistant the Administration Assistant is a vital and ever-changing position within the business. The role works on reception facilitating the contractor management and inductions for visitors and Market Users coming onto site. With over 30 staff including casuals, the Market is a busy place with the majority of the growers and transporters being on site from midnight to 4am. Hence, the hours of this role are ideally 6am – 2pm or 7am – 3pm to work in-line with the business needs.

Preference in working in the Property Administration and facility Management sector however you will be a ‘jack of all trades’ by processing access cards, undertaking contractor management ensuring all licenses, permits and PPE is worn onsite and coordinating the overall running of the office. Working in this small team, you will also support the Executive Assistant and back fill the Logistics Assistant in times of leave.

Skills & experience:

A natural people person with the personality to deal face to face with multiple stakeholders, you are upbeat, positive and like a laugh. With strong administration skills and an ability to pick up new systems quickly, you will add immediate value to the team. MS Office Suite of products, SAP and 2IC (pallet management) systems will be used throughout your role. The volume of work is high and the pace is fast, you will be able to think on your feet and quickly change tasks when needed.
