Get Job-Ready for 2022

The holiday season is a great time to look back on your career to date and make sure you're happy with your current situation.

Here are six smart tips for workers to do over this Holiday period:

1. Reflect and Plan

Set aside some time to review your career goals – or, if you haven't done so already, set some practical career goals – and make a list of what you need to do to advance in your job.

2. Learn new skills

Enrolling in short courses or online programs is a great way to master a new skill or refresh existing skills. Some programs that are on offer include

3. Organise

Balancing personal and professional life has never been more important, so mastering work-life balance will give you a head start for 2022

Taking the time to revamp and refresh your digital and physical workspace can help increase creativity as well as motivate you to accomplish goals in the new year.

4. Network

Join a professional organisation, attend a networking event, or update your online professional profile, such as LinkedIn.

Also review your social media platforms to ensure they are working for you. Read ways in which you can do this here.

5. Update your CV

Whether you are looking for a new job in the new year or happy staying where you are, use this time as an opportunity to examine and update your CV.

Prospective employers need quantifiable evidence of your previous achievements.

Ask yourself:

  • Are your professional accomplishments up to date?

  • Are your qualifications and capabilities appropriately represented?

  • Are your qualifications and skills reflected accurately?

6. Recharge

Last of all, and arguably the most important, spend some time with your family, friends, and doing the things you enjoy so that you may begin 2022 feeling rejuvenated.

Taking some time off to rest and improve your physical, mental, and emotional health is always a good idea, no matter the time of year.
